Action Against Hunger is well known for combining emergency relief with long term sustainability. When a crisis strikes, we are one of the first to respond, but we do not leave once the cameras stop rolling. We stay and help communities rebuild their lives and prepare for the future, to improve their access to food and clean water for the long term.
Our Love Food Give Food appeal is growing strong. Not only will the appeal save the lives of thousands of malnourished children, but it will also ensure that their communities are equipped with the tools, the seeds and the knowledge they need to make sure their children never go hungry again.
The UK Government has been supporting our programmes in the town of Masi Manimba in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and has produced a video showing the impact of our vital work. The video shows perfectly how a combination of emergency relief and long term sustainability work together to tackle hunger.
Historically, families across the region lack access to a basic nutritious diet. Our teams worked with communities, treating malnourished children and giving families the means to feed themselves for the future. As a result malnutrition has drastically reduced in the region and long after our teams have left, the community is still working together to prevent malnutrition from happening again.
Our programmes in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are a perfect example of our vision, and of the work that Love Food Give Food could make possible across other countries. The UK Government is showing their support once again, by doubling all public donations to the appeal before 30th November. There is no better time to show your support.
