Long term solutions for families

“Without my new job I would have had to move away from my family”

For Dagandiba Timdamo’s family, they used to consider themselves very lucky if they ate two meals a day. The 45-year-old father of seven was struggling to feed his family and he would get up every morning to desperately look for any food he could find for his children.

Now, all of that has changed. Action Against Hunger has developed a cash for work programme in Bogande, Burkina Faso, to help families like Dagandiba’s feed themselves. In exchange for a wage, a group of men from the village are working to regenerate the crop fields for the next harvest. In addition families also receive goats, which provide milk for their children to drink. Dagandiba’s goat has already had two kids, which he is going to sell at the local market to make an income.

Dagandiba says “If it were not for the arrival of Action Against Hunger I would have had to move away from my family to search for a job, as have many men from our region have already done. Now I have options.”

But there are still many more families like Dagandiba’s across Burkina Faso, desperately looking for ways to feed themselves. By supporting Action Against Hunger you can help give families the tools and the knowledge they need to feed themselves for the future, which in turn benefits the whole community.

Don’t forget your donation will be matched by the UK Government, meaning you’ll help reach twice as many families with one donation.
